Artist Statement

This year’s fall 2021 theme for our final project in Integrating Activity was both Creativity in Crisis and Unfold. For my project I decided to go with Unfold. The word is being taken quite literally as my project is greeting cards and they unfold when you open them. It took me a bit of time to settle on an idea for the final project and originally I had decided to do a sort of multimedia project. However, after seeing in class previous students works for their final project, I decided to switch my idea to greeting cards. Each card has a unique design painted or photocopied onto the front of it, as well as a message inside which will either be for a holiday or special occasion. Some examples are Christmas cards, Hanukkah cards, New Year cards, mother and father’s day cards, graduation cards and Valentine day’s cards. There will be a total of five to ten unique designed greeting cards accompanied by each having an envelope. The paintings on the greeting cards are done with acrylic paint and paint brushes. I bought all of my supplies from Omer Desserres art store. I started painting a year or two ago when I learned how to in my second semester at Dawson. I am in the Arts and Culture program and I hope to develop my artistic skills in order to one day be accepted into the Arts in University, whether it be practical or theoretical (studio arts or art history).
